Evergreen Cemetery

Established in 1875, Evergreen Cemetery is the resting place for the region’s historic figures and notables. A walk through the beautiful grounds will take you by the graves of General William Jackson Palmer, founder of Colorado Springs, Helen Hunt Jackson, Winfield Scott Stratton, Fannie Mae Duncan, Artus Van Briggle and many more. The historic Chapel at Evergreen Cemetery was built by the Ladies Cemetery Association in 1910 in response to General Palmer’s funeral.  Today, the chapel is available for services, weddings and special events.

Although Evergreen Cemetery is owned by the City of Colorado Springs, it is an Enterprise of the City.  This means that the cemetery does not receive any taxpayer funding.  All revenues come from the sale of burial spaces, burial service and donations.  If you would like to donate, please go to Cemetery Donation: Community Business.
