Frequently Asked Questions
What is Peak Radar?
The multi-faceted Peak Radar program has connected locals and tourists to events, opportunities, and attractions throughout the Pikes Peak region since 2007. As the flagship program of the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, Peak Radar offers a free marketing platform for local arts, culture, and fun – connecting hundreds of under-resourced arts & cultural groups in Colorado Springs and across El Paso, Teller, and Femont counties to hundreds of thousands of potential audience members and supporters.
How Does Peak Radar Help Me?
Peak Radar expands the reach of your organization and visibility of your events. When you create your free event listing on PeakRadar.com, it not only becomes more visible to local residents and visiting tourists, but is also included in event feeds that showcase your content on several partner sites across the region such as VisitCOS, Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak Region Attractions, Springs Media, and more.
Beyond the online event calendar at its core, Peak Radar’s support includes five social media accounts, email marketing, local creative sector job opportunities, media relations, community outreach, and much more to engage new audiences! 98 percent of users say Peak Radar helps them connect to local arts, culture, and entertainment.
Does Peak Radar Produce All These Events?
No! We’re good, but not that good. With over 3,000 event listings each year on the website, we rely on event producers – the experts – to submit their information to us so we can amplify their marketing efforts.
Please reach out to the event’s presenting organization – via the phone number or email on the specific event listing – if you have questions about their event.
How Do I Make Event Listings?
We rely on users like you to submit events details, explanations, and images. Listing your event on PeakRadar.com is free and easy:
Visit PeakRadar.com. Under “Submit a Listing” in the upper right hand corner, click on “Register” if you don’t have an existing account, OR “Login” if you already have an account. Fill out and submit the required information.
Click on the “Create New Event” button in the center of your dashboard and follow the outlined event form. Make sure to complete the form and click submit. You may save a draft of your event listing.
NOTE: For those organizations that have many events in their schedule, a bulk upload tool is available by request at support@peakradar.com.
Once you have submitted your event listing, please allow 2-3 business days for the Peak Radar team to make any needed edits, approve the event, and get it live on the website.
Please review your event both before and after it is posted. You will receive confirmation emails when your event is submitted and when it is approved.
You can make edits to your event listing after it is approved by our team. Log into your dashboard and click the “Edit/Cancel an Event” button. In particular, please let us know if your event sells out (huzzah!) or is cancelled (bummer!) by using the “Edit/Cancel an Event” button on your dashboard.
What Are The Event Listing Requirements?
All events must take place in Southern Colorado’s El Paso, Teller, or Fremont counties.
The farther in advance you submit your event(s) to PeakRadar.com, the better. We request that events be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event’s start date. This ensures your event can be properly approved and is eligible for additional promotions, such as inclusion in the e-blast, Lodging Picks, and on social media. Every event posted to PeakRadar.com is reviewed and edited by our team before being published to the site.
*If we receive your event listing less than 48 hours in advance of your event happening, your event will not be posted.
– Only public events may be listed.
– Events posted to Peak Radar should be leisure time or recreational activities, and have a specific cultural component to them.
– At this time, we are only able to accept event listings in English.
– Classes and Workshops are not submitted like other events. See that section below for more details.
– We do not accept events that are solely:
* Retail in purpose
* Whose purpose is solicitation
* Religious or political/partisan in nature.
* Fundraisers
* Networking Events
* Events to recruit volunteers or board members
* Organizational business meetings
* From adult-oriented businesses
*Event eligibility is also evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
To reduce the staff workload around class and workshop listings, we no longer accept them submitted as regular event listings. You have two options to submit Classes and Workshops to Peak Radar, both of which are available to users year-round.
- If you are an arts organization that offers regular arts and culture classes/workshops, become part of PeakArtsEd! This How-To Guide goes over how to create a profile and uploads your programming options.
- If you are a community organization, visit our year-round Classes and Workshops page. See if you’re already on there, and if you’re not and would like to be – email support@peakradar.com. This page allows users to find the specific kinds of classes they’d like to take without having to sift through hundreds of event listings, while also permanently linking to your website/ticket pages.
PeakRadar.com reserves the right to edit graphic images and submissions for grammar, style, and accuracy, as well as remove any listings or profiles that we believe are not suitable for the site. While the Cultural Office does not believe in censorship, we do reserve the right to edit all submitted content to ensure accuracy and appropriateness for our Peak Radar audiences.
What Else Should I Know About Event Listings?
If your event reoccurs on multiple dates, please make sure to include these on the Dates and Times section of the same event form. That way, you won’t have to submit multiple event listings.
Please check PeakRadar.com for duplicate/existing event listings. Coordinate with other involved organizations to only submit one listing. Also, if an event is recurring/yearly, please edit the previous year’s listing instead of creating a new one. Old listings can be found under Events -> Past Events.
Don’t just copy and paste a press release into the description box. Please take the time to fill out each section with the appropriate information; it saves time editing and makes for a much cleaner listing. Please do not use all caps when creating your event description or summary. Market your event – watch out for acronyms the audience may not know and show you are the event expert with impressive descriptions and images to sell your event.
In order to post your event, we must have a promotional image to display with your listing. Images must be in .JPG or .PNG format ONLY and no larger than 1.5 megabytes with a required minimum of 400 x 400 pixels to display. Depending on the size of your image and connection speed to the Internet, the upload process may take up to several minutes – please be patient. Once received, your image will be formatted for display. By submitting images to PeakRadar.com, you give Peak Radar permission to use those photos in promotional materials.
Paid Advertising
Many of Peak Radar’s promotional tools, including posting event listings, are free. But if you want to really level up your promotions or ensure inclusion in tools like the e-blast and the PeakRadar.com homepage, there are several paid promotional options for you to pursue.
