The Fifty-Niner is a nod to the history of Old Colorado City. In 1859, the prospectors came to Colorado from California in search of gold. They were called the 59ers. The Fifty-Niner and its historic building is located directly across from the original Colorado Territorial Capital.
The Fifty-Niner is a hidden speakeasy in the back of The Dice Guys game store, which means there is a 200-game library to choose from. So come sit, sip, munch, and play the old fashioned way.
Springs Ensemble Theater is also located inside The Fifty-Niner.

The story of Thunder and Buttons began in the late 1800s, when Colorado City was a lively frontier town filled with colorful characters and bustling saloons. Local legend tells of Prairie Dog O’Byrne, a well-known resident who hitched two bull elk named Thunder and Buttons to his carriage, creating one of the area’s most memorable sights.
Inspired by the tale and the area’s rich heritage, Thunder and Buttons was established as a gathering place that celebrates local history, hospitality, and great food. They frequently host live music, too!
