The Senior Open will be contested on the East Course designed by Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and will be the 6th USGA Championship staged at The Broadmoor. The first was the 1959 U.S. Amateur won by Jack Nicklaus. The last was the 1995 U.S. Women's Open, won by Annika Sorenstam. The U.S. Senior Open is one of the major championships in men's senior golf. It is administered by the United States Golf Association (USGA) and is recognised as a major championship by both the Champions Tour and the European Seniors Tour. It was founded in 1980. In 2007 the prize fund was $2.6 million, and that year Allen Doyle became the oldest U.S. Senior Open Champion at 57 years, 11 months and 17 days. More than 150,000 spectators are expected to attend the U.S. Senior Open throughout the week.
